Driving Instructor Course in WA
Welcome to the Driving Instructor Course in WA (Perth) -> TLI41221 – Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport – Car Driving Instruction). This certificate is a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF).
It includes the performance of a broad range of skilled applications including requirements to evaluate and analyse current practices, to develop new criteria and procedures for performing current practices, and to provide some leadership and guidance to others in applying skills and planning skill development.
This qualification is currently cited as meeting part of the requirements for certification as a Motor Vehicle Driving Instructor, as defined by relevant state/territory licensing and regulatory requirements.

An initial deposit of $1500 is required for this course. The remaining balance will be paid just before the commencement of practical training.
How to Apply
Step 1: The following eligibility requirements listed below must be met.
- A current Western Australian driver’s licence
- Minimum of 3 continuous years experience driving the vehicle class you wish to teach
- Medical fitness standards
- Police character checks
- Minimum age of 21 years old
Step 2: Complete the TLI41221 – Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport – Car Driving Instruction)
Step 3: Fill out the “Application for Instructors Licence” form. You can find this form by clicking here.
Step 4: Submit the completed application form to The Department of Transportation along with:
- Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport Driving Instruction), or equivalent if applicable.
- National Police Certificate.
- Character references (if required).
- Proof of identity documents.
- Application fee.
Step 5: Complete the theory and practical assessment
NOTE: If you hold a TLI41221 – Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport – Car Driving Instruction) or similar nationally-recognised certificate, you will be exempted from the Theory and Practical Assessment.
Step 6: Complete a medical check-up designed specifically for driving instructors
NOTE: Your application is unlikely to be accepted if you have:
- been convicted of any sexual, fraud, financial, violent, drug related or theft offences
- a history of driving offences, licence disqualifications or suspensions.
